Abstract

Rescue Treatment for Failing Restorative Treatment

• Suggested procedures for the following clinical failures:

  1. Zirconia or zirconia-based crowns coming off
  2. Ceramic broken from crown or FPD metal substructure
  3. Caries at cervical margin of crowns
  4. Open contact area—amalgam, composite
  5. Open contact area on anterior crown—e.max, PFM
  6. Open contact—zirconia crown, FPD
  7. Caries on distal or mesial of previously restored 2-surface Class II—composite or amalgam
  8. Hole in ceramic crown from Endo/screw access
  9. Broken piece—monolithic zirc crown, zirc-based crown, FPD
  10. Fixed prosthesis loose on one end
  11. Threatened further loosening of mobile teeth—occlusion, missing tooth
  12. Patient needs but cannot afford new dentures
