4- Cost of Resin Waste when using auto-mix tips  (3E in APR 2003 CRA Newsletter)

 

Research Question: How much buildup material is unused & wasted due to the automix & intraoral tips?  Three buildup resins were dispensed from dual barrel syringes that used automix tips. Each buildup resin used a different size tip that resulted in a different amount amount of material that was unused & wasted in the tip alone.

Summary of chart: Build-It FR had the least cost and Fluorocore had the most cost per gram.  The three buildup resins dispensed from dual barrel syringes with automix tips had the lowest cost of all the resins. For these 3 products the unavoidable added expense of the wasted material in the automix tips makes the material cost of a buildup comparable to the other buildup resins.

 

Of the three auto-mix tips, Build-It FR has least amount of unused material as well as least cost of unused material in tip.
